I played a 2000pts game last night, using ogres and went up against dwarfs. It was a hard fought and fun game.
It was my first game using ogres, as I borrowed my friends army. Thoughts at the start of the game; not good ironblaster killed itself on turn 1 and my maneaters with golgfag failed 3 charges in a row.
But by the end of turn 5, I had wiped out: 3 cannons and 2 organ guns, mainly down to my 2 units of 4 leadbelchers, who just kept on rolling 6s to wound.
We played to the death and I sadly lost, but he only had a handful of warriors, a thane untouched and his dwarflord with 1 wound left by the end. That's the best I've played against my friend, as I usually play high elves and only kill about 12 models before he tables me.
Thoughts; even though the ogres weren't up against an easy opponent for them, they still performed very well, so I can just imagine what they'd be like up against a combat army. So the ogres are fairly competitive and still fun to play with and against at the same time, which is pretty much what people ask for in an army.
